Hello, I’m Thomas Almeida, born and raised in Natal - RN, a city surrounded by paradisiacal beaches and a welcoming climate. From an early age, I developed a great interest in technology, which led me to seek new challenges outside my hometown. I had the opportunity to live for a period in Phoenix - AZ, where I was able to expand my knowledge and skills, but it was in São Paulo - SP that I found the ideal environment for my professional growth.

I came to São Paulo in search of greater challenges. My hometown offers few opportunities in the technology sector, and São Paulo is the largest city in Latin America and one of the largest in the world, offering countless opportunities. With over six years of professional experience, I am proud to have contributed significantly to companies like CloudWalk and Flowspace. At CloudWalk, I participated in building the acquiring system from scratch, a project that required a lot of dedication and innovation. At Flowspace, I faced the challenge of dealing with a legacy system, marking my first international experience. Each project was a unique opportunity for growth and learning, allowing me to hone my skills and acquire new competencies.

For most of my career, I have worked with Ruby, a language I master proficiently. Recently, I have dedicated myself to studying Go, working on parallel projects with this technology. Additionally, I have worked with other technologies, such as JavaScript and Elixir, demonstrating my versatility and constant pursuit of improvement. I am always looking to learn new technologies and methodologies to stay updated and relevant in the market.

The pandemic brought many challenges, especially being in a huge city with just my wife, far from my parents and family. It was a difficult time, always worried about my parents and my wife, who is a doctor. During the pandemic, I hardly saw her, and it was tough seeing how hard it was for her. It was during this period that Preguiça came into our lives. Initially, we applied to adopt her brother, but due to a mix-up at the shelter, we ended up adopting Preguiça. With her large claws, she looked like a sloth, but soon she proved to be very active, intelligent, and affectionate. Coca-Cola joined us as a companion for Preguiça. When I saw that her litter had been rescued, I fell in love at first sight. It was reciprocal because she is very attached to me.

I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years and have encountered many misconceptions about the diet. People think being vegetarian makes me weak, with fragile health, or that it’s a phase. My health has improved significantly since making the switch, and I have more energy and vitality than ever. Maintaining a vegetarian diet is not only a health choice but also an ethical and environmental one, something I take very seriously.

On cold days, which I love, I enjoy going to the park or having coffee on a sidewalk café while reading a good book. These simple moments bring a lot of peace and reflection, allowing me to recharge and appreciate life calmly. These moments of tranquility are essential to balance the hustle and bustle of daily life and keep the mind healthy and focused.

In addition to technology, I am passionate about martial arts, especially jiu-jitsu and kickboxing. I found in these practices a way to stay physically fit, relieve stress, and develop discipline and focus. Martial arts are an important part of my life and contribute to my overall well-being.

I spent much of my life in Natal, a city surrounded by beaches, but I never dared to learn to surf. After moving away, I thought it would be a good idea to learn, even if it doesn’t make much sense. When I visit Natal, I always take surf lessons. Skateboarding entered my life as a form of “asphalt surfing” and I’ve enjoyed it a lot since. Skateboarding provides a sense of freedom and is a great form of exercise and fun.

My marriage is special because my wife is an incredible partner. We have grown, matured, and become better people together. We share the same ideals and see the world in the same way. Our relationship is based on mutual respect, understanding, and unconditional support. We share dreams and goals and are always ready to face challenges together, which further strengthens our bond.

Professionally, I always strive to grow. My goal is to become a specialist and lead teams, inspired by professionals I have met along my journey. I am constantly studying and learning new things. I try to at least be equal to the professionals I admire, always seeking excellence in everything I do. I believe that continuous learning and the willingness to reinvent oneself are essential for success in career and life.

With a solid career and a personal life full of significant moments, I am always in search of new horizons and learning. Every experience, whether professional or personal, contributes to my evolution as an individual and a professional. I am determined to continue growing, overcoming challenges and making a difference in the world of technology.
